PicPay starts producing solar energy at its headquarters in Vitória

PicPay will start producing solar energy at its headquarters in Vitória, Espírito Santo, starting in July. The project, which will last ten years, foresees the generation of 1,500 MWh (megawatt-hour), equivalent to the planting of 800 trees and savings of 200 tons of CO2 in the period.

The expected production of photovoltaic solar energy is equivalent to 35% of the building’s current consumption and allows savings of between 5% and 10% of the off-peak energy tariff, that is, in the period of the day when electricity consumption is lowest.

To this end, 256 440 Wp photovoltaic modules were placed on the roof of the office, resulting in an installed power of 112.64 kWp (kilowatt peak, which means the maximum installed power under ideal conditions).

The project was developed by Âmbar Energia, also part of the J&F group, which has a lease agreement for the photovoltaic generator for PicPay.

Set of actions

The installation of the photovoltaic modules in Vitória is part of the company’s initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. In 2020, PicPay offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the company’s operation by investing in sustainable projects. The technology company purchased carbon credits to offset the 388 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent or tCO2e.

In addition to investments in sustainable projects, PicPay also collects selective waste, reuses rainwater, disposes of electronics, and replaces plastic utensils with eco-friendly options, among others.
